These make for a cute appetizer for any Halloween party!
Prep time: Roughly 30 minutes
You'll need just a few things to get started:
15 Jalapeno Peppers
1 cup Cream cheese
1/4 cup Shredded Pepper jack cheese
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
1 teaspoon Onion Powder
Refrigerated crescent rolls
1 egg
Candy googly eyes (Most grocery retailers will have these)
1 teaspoon Natural Sea Salt
1 teaspoon Pepper
Directions
Gather all the ingredients and preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the jalapeno peppers in half and remove the seeds and insides. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Mix well for about a minute. Fill the jalapeno halves with the cream cheese mixture. Don't over fill because the cheese will ooze out while they're baking.
Unroll the crescent roll dough, leaving the triangles together and pinching the perforations together. Cut thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide) of dough and wrap one or two pieces around each pepper half. Leave a space at the top to insert the googly eyes.
Make an egg wash by combining the egg and about one tablespoon of water. Mix well. Place the mummies on a baking sheet, and brush a thin layer of egg wash on each one.
Bake for about fifteen minutes. When they're done the mummies should be golden brown.
