Why Loose Leaf Tea?

Updated: Mar 23, 2021

Did you know we sell over thirty-five flavors of fresh loose tea? You may have your own store-bought tea bags at your home, but let me explain why whole loose leaf tea is the better option.

Tea bags usually aren't as fresh. Loose whole teas are made up of whole, unbroken leaves. This means you get a higher quality experience with more rounded full-body flavor. Tea bags are the exact opposite – they are made from shredded tea leaves – usually low grade. Tea bags are usually produced one of two ways: machine processing or collecting dust from the whole loose tea leaves by sweeping off the factory floor. This often leads to poor quality leaves, bugs, and twigs being picked up as well and ending up in the tea bags. These tea manufacturers will then sell to various wholesalers and retailers.

Better tea quality leads to more helpful compounds in your tea. This also means the flavor of the tea is bolder and the aroma is stronger. Tea bags are often dull and stale in flavor because most of the essential oils have evaporated.

Another benefit to loose teas is you are in full control over the portion control. You can add a little more if you need to or you can use less.It takes the same amount of time to prepare loose leaf tea as it does with tea bags.

It isn't all doom and gloom for tea bags, however. There are a few benefits. They are often:

  • Not as messy

  • Price conscious

  • No left over tea leaves

So basically Loose Teas taste better and are better for your health while tea bags are convenient.

Tea is affected by three things: Light, Heat, and humidity so make sure to keep your loose tea away from those three things when you are storing.

Have a tea-licious time trying our teas! :)
